Brownfield Former Military Building in Viseggi

Short Overview

The former building in Viseggi is part of the anti-aircraft defence network in the western area of La Spezia’s hills.

The building, at an altitude of 347 m a.s.l. can be reached via a narrow, paved road that branches off from via Montalbano and climbs along the ridge that separates the area of Parodi from that of Valdurasca.

The building, which dates back to the early decades of the 20th century, stands on an irregularly shaped plot of land and borders on the public road. It consists of an accommodation and a warehouse; it develops in 5.5 rooms on an area of approximately 126 m² divided into four rooms (corridor, toilet, terrace and a large basement and a smaller local attached to it) with independent entrances and internal heights of 3.10 m.

The structure, in stone and masonry, preserves finishes, typology and construction methods of the time.

It is currently in a state of neglect and covered with thick vegetation.
