Brownfield Premises in Corso Solferino

Short Overview

The public property for commercial use is located at n. 7r of Corso Solferino; built, following the City Council resolution dating back to April 1919, in the subsoil of the driveway and pedestrian ramp of Salita Superiore di S. Ranocchio. It is the first of a series of other small commercial premises that characterize the area.

The location consists of two rectangular rooms and a mezzanine with a surface area of approximately 21.00 sqm; it is composed of an entrance with a shop window space and a larger window adjacent to it. The structure is in reinforced concrete.

The context of the property is a residential neighbourhood located on the heights overlooking the historic center of Genoa, called Castelletto. The intensive population of the neighbourhood took place gradually starting from the nineteenth century when, with the urban revolution started on a project by Carlo Barabino, the hill was identified as the ideal area for the bourgeois residential district, not far from the center and with an enviable panoramic opening on the city centre. The neighbourhood has maintained its original characteristic of a residential area and is often visited by tourists for the panoramic views of the city.

The n. 7r is about 150 m from the public park of Villa Gruber De Mari, a historic residence built by the noble De Mari family in the sixteenth century.
